Getting started with Distro
Create your account, set up your first product, get your GTM plan and choose where to start: cold email, LinkedIn, Copilot or SEO content.
Distro turns a short description of your business into a go-to-market plan, then helps you act on it: cold email from your own Google account, LinkedIn outreach, social replies through Distro Copilot, and SEO content. Getting set up takes a few minutes: create an account, describe your product, confirm the details, and Distro starts building your plan while you look around.
- Create your account
- Describe your product (4 short steps)
- Confirm your product context
- Distro builds your GTM plan
- Dashboard: pick a channel and start
1. Create your account
- Go to the sign-up page and choose Continue with Google, or fill in Full Name, Work Email and a Password (at least 8 characters), then click Try Distro.
- If you signed up with email and password, Distro may ask you to confirm your address. Look for the Check Your Email message, open the link in the email, then log in.
Your 3-day free trial starts automatically the first time you sign in. No card is needed, and you get the Scale plan with smaller trial limits. See Plans, trial and billing for what the trial includes and what happens when it ends.
2. Describe your product
Distro calls each business you grow a product, whether it is a SaaS tool, an agency, a service business or a local shop. After sign-up you go through four short steps:
| Step | What Distro asks |
|---|---|
| Growing | What you are setting up, its name, and your website URL (optional) |
| Offer | What you offer, in plain language, and your industry or category |
| Audience | Your target audience and the geography or location you sell to |
| Growth | Your current stage, primary growth goal, existing channels (optional) and competitors or alternatives (optional) |
Click Continue after each step and Save product profile at the end. Be specific about your audience: it shapes who Distro suggests you contact and what it drafts. Set up your first product walks through every field.
3. Confirm your product context
Next, Distro shows your details on one page so you can check them.
- If you added a website, click Analyze website. Distro reads basic details from the page (title, description, headline). No AI generation happens in this step. If the site can't be read automatically, you can still continue with what you typed.
- Edit anything under Editable context that isn't quite right.
- Click Confirm and continue.
Distro starts generating your GTM plan in the background and takes you to the dashboard.
4. Get your GTM plan
Your plan appears on the Intelligence page: your ideal customer profile, positioning and suggested channels. Every other part of Distro reads from it, so it is worth a few minutes of your time. If the dashboard still shows Generate your intelligence report as a to-do, open Intelligence and generate it there.
Read more in What is Distro GTM Intelligence? and Understanding your plan.
5. Choose where to start
You don't need to use every channel on day one. Pick the one that fits how you sell:
- Cold email. Send personal campaigns with follow-ups from your own Google account (Gmail or Google Workspace). Start with Prepare for outbound, then connect your Google account.
- LinkedIn. Run connection-request and message campaigns from your own LinkedIn account through the Distro Chrome extension. See Getting started with LinkedIn outreach.
- Email + LinkedIn. Combine both in one campaign, where a reply on either channel stops it for that person. See Email + LinkedIn campaigns.
- Copilot. The Distro Copilot Chrome extension finds people on X and LinkedIn talking about the problem you solve and drafts replies for you to approve. Open Copilot to install it.
- SEO & Content. Generate search-focused articles, review them and publish to your blog. See How Distro SEO content works.
Email, LinkedIn and Email + LinkedIn campaigns all live in the Outreach section of the sidebar, under Campaigns. Click New campaign and choose the type. The Outreach section, and the LinkedIn options in it, appear only when they are enabled for your account. See Which campaign type should I use?
Find your way around
- The Dashboard shows what needs you today across every area. See Understanding the Distro dashboard.
- Once Outreach is on, its Overview page shows your setup, the last 30 days of results, what needs you and what is running now. See How Outreach works.
- A short sidebar tour runs the first time you open the dashboard on a device. To replay it, open
/dashboard?tour=1. - A Setup guide checklist may appear in the bottom corner during your first days. You can minimise or dismiss it.
- Your account is in the profile menu (your photo or initial, top right): Account settings, Plan & billing, Integrations & API (if your account has it), Progress and Sign out.
