What is Distro GTM Intelligence?

GTM Intelligence is the go-to-market plan Distro builds for your product: who to sell to, what to say and which channels to start with. Here's what it covers and what uses it.

Updated 3 min read

GTM Intelligence is the go-to-market plan Distro builds for each product you set up. It describes who is most likely to buy, which people inside those companies you need to reach, how to position your product, what to say, and which channels to start with. You'll find it under Intelligence in the sidebar, on the page titled Distribution Intelligence.

The plan is also the starting point for the rest of Distro. Outreach, LinkedIn, the Copilot and SEO & Content all read from it, so a good plan saves you from typing the same product facts into every tool.

What's in the plan

Each plan has up to ten sections. You can jump between them with the In this report list on the right of the page (on larger screens).

SectionWhat it answers
Executive summaryWhat your product is, who it's for, your main go-to-market motion and the best first channel
Ideal customer profileWhich companies are most likely to buy, and how to spot a good or bad fit
Buyer personasThe people who evaluate, champion and approve the purchase
Pain pointsThe problems your buyers have, ranked by severity, plus discovery questions
Goals & motivationsWhat your buyers want to achieve and what would make them act now
PositioningYour positioning statement, category, differentiator and short pitches
Value propositionsYour main value proposition, before/after and outcome statements
Messaging pillarsThree core messages, with words to use
Channel strategyYour top distribution channels, channels to avoid and 30-day quick wins
Path to 100 customersA staged plan from your first 10 to your first 100 customers

What Distro builds it from

Distro builds your plan from two sources:

  • The product details you confirm during setup: name, description, industry, target audience, geography, stage, primary goal, existing channels and any competitors or alternatives you list.
  • Your website's homepage, if you gave a website URL. Distro reads that one page (its title, description, headline, subheadings and visible text). It doesn't crawl the rest of your site.

When information is missing, Distro makes cautious assumptions instead of leaving sections empty. That's why the details you enter during setup matter: a sharp target audience and description produce a sharper plan.

  1. Your product details + your homepage
  2. Distro builds your GTM plan
  3. Intelligence page (Distribution Intelligence)
  4. Outreach, LinkedIn, Copilot and SEO & Content

Who uses the plan

  • You. Use it as a reference for positioning, messaging and which channels to try first.
  • Cold email (Outreach). When you click Write with AI in an email campaign and choose one of your Distro products, Distro pre-fills the campaign's facts from the plan.
  • LinkedIn. Autopilot drafts its targeting (job titles, locations, keywords and problems) from your personas and ICP, and LinkedIn campaigns can pull product facts from it.
  • Copilot. The Copilot's keyword set and its idea of your ICP and offer come from the plan.
  • SEO & Content. The content engine plans topics from the plan, and it won't start planning until you have one.

The details are in Turn your GTM plan into cold email and LinkedIn outreach.

Good to know

  • One plan per product. If you run more than one product (Scale plan), each product has its own plan. Switching your active product switches the plan you see. See Set up your first product.
  • The plan is read-only. You can't edit sections on the Intelligence page. When you use the plan in a campaign, you review and edit the facts there instead, and Distro never changes your plan from those screens.
  • Refreshing isn't available yet. The page has a Refresh report button, but regenerating an existing plan isn't switched on yet. See Generate (and refresh) your GTM plan.
  • The full report is a Scale feature. Every plan shows its summary on the Intelligence page. The complete report, with copy and print options, opens from View Report on an active Scale plan. On the trial or Growth, that button reads Unlock full report.
