Set up your first product
Distro calls each business you grow a product. Learn what to enter when you set one up, how to add another and how the product switcher works.
In Distro, a product is the business you are growing: a SaaS tool, an agency, a service, a creator business, an online shop or anything else you sell. Your first product is created during sign-up. Distro uses its details to build your GTM plan, so the more specific you are, the more useful everything after it becomes.
What Distro asks for
The first time you sign in, Distro walks you through four steps.
Step 1: What are you growing?
- What are you setting up on Distro? Choose the closest type: Startup, SaaS product, Service business, Agency/consulting business, Creator business, Digital product, Ecommerce brand, Local business or Other.
- Name: the label changes with the type, for example "Product name" or "Agency name".
- Website URL (optional): if you have a live page, Distro can read basic details from it in a later step. Leave it blank if you don't have one yet.
Step 2: What do you offer?
- What do you offer? One or two plain sentences. "A tool that helps small teams track customer feedback" works better than a slogan.
- Industry or category: pick the closest fit.
Step 3: Who is it for?
- Target audience: who needs this most. Name roles, company types or situations, for example "Founders of B2B SaaS companies with 5 to 50 employees".
- Geography or location: where your buyers are, for example "United Kingdom" or "Remote, worldwide".
Step 4: Growth setup
- Current stage: Idea, MVP, Launched, Early traction, Growing or Scaling.
- Primary growth goal: for example Get first users, Generate leads or Increase sales.
- Existing channels (optional): what you already use.
- Competitors or alternatives (optional): who buyers compare you with.
Click Save product profile on the last step.
Confirm your product context
After saving, Distro shows a confirmation page:
- If you entered a website, click Analyze website. Distro pulls the page title, meta description and headline so you can compare them with what you typed. This step doesn't generate anything. If the site can't be read, you can continue without it.
- Check the fields under Editable context and correct anything. Everything is required except the website and competitors.
- Click Confirm and continue.
Distro starts generating your GTM plan in the background and opens the dashboard. Your plan appears on the Intelligence page. See Generate your GTM plan.
Add another product
Running more than one business? You can add another product if your plan allows it.
| Plan | Products |
|---|---|
| Free trial | 1 |
| Growth | 1 |
| Scale | Unlimited |
- Open the product switcher at the top of the sidebar and click Add another product, or click Add product on the Dashboard.
- Fill in the three short steps: Product basics, About your product and Goals & stage.
- Click Create Product. The new product becomes your active product.
- Confirm the details on the next page and click Confirm and continue.
If your plan doesn't allow another product, the switcher shows Upgrade to add products and takes you to Plan & billing instead. See Plans, trial and billing.
Switch between products
Click the product switcher at the top of the sidebar and choose a product. The active one has a check mark. You can also switch from Account settings (in the profile menu, top right) โ General โ Your Products.
Switching changes what you see in Dashboard, Intelligence, Copilot and SEO & Content. Everything in the Outreach section (email, LinkedIn and Email + LinkedIn campaigns, the Inbox, People and your sending accounts) is shared across your whole account and doesn't change when you switch. The switcher is hidden while you are on Outreach pages for that reason.
Change product details
There isn't a separate screen for editing a product's details after you confirm them. If your business has changed significantly, contact us through Help & support โ Send a message or at hello@usedistro.com.
