Turn your GTM plan into cold email and LinkedIn outreach
How your GTM plan feeds cold email, LinkedIn Autopilot and campaigns, the Copilot and SEO & Content, and where you still copy or confirm details yourself.
Your GTM plan isn't just something to read. Several parts of Distro pull from it directly, so you don't retype your audience, pains and positioning in every tool. This article shows exactly where the plan is used, what each tool takes from it, and where you still need to add or copy things yourself.
- GTM plan (Intelligence)
- Cold email: Write with AI pre-fills your campaign facts
- LinkedIn: Autopilot drafts targeting, campaigns pre-fill product facts
- Copilot: keywords and ICP for X and LinkedIn engagement
- SEO & Content: topic planning
Distro only reads your plan in these places. Editing facts in a campaign never changes the plan itself.
Cold email campaigns (Outreach)
The plan feeds cold email through Write with AI in the campaign composer.
- Open Campaigns in the Outreach section of the sidebar. Click New campaign and choose Email, or open an existing email campaign.
- Select your recipients. Distro needs them before it writes anything.
- Click Write with AI under the first email.
- At What are you promoting?, choose One of my Distro products and pick the product. A product without a plan shows no GTM report yet next to its name.
- On the next step, review the facts Distro will use. From the plan, Distro fills in the Offer name, What it does, Who it's for, Positioning, Problems it solves, Value proposition, Differentiators, likely objections, Tone (from your messaging pillars' words to use and avoid) and Other facts and restrictions (from your positioning guardrails).
Some fields always stay empty because they aren't in your plan: How it works, Proof and case studies, Verified results, Verified ROI, Approved pricing and Call to action. Add them yourself. How it works is required before Distro can write, together with Offer name, What it does, Who it's for and Problems it solves.
Full walkthrough: Generate a sequence with Distro and edit it.
Email + LinkedIn campaigns (sequences) don't read your plan. If you build one, copy your positioning, pains and pitches from the Intelligence page into the steps yourself. The same goes for templates you write by hand. See Email + LinkedIn campaigns.
LinkedIn Autopilot
Autopilot turns an ICP from your plan into LinkedIn searches, qualified prospects and a 7-message campaign, with your approval at each step.
- Open LinkedIn Autopilot in the Outreach section of the sidebar and create a new Autopilot, or click Find and contact this ICP on LinkedIn above the Buyer personas section on the Intelligence page.
- Choose the Product. Distro reads that product's plan and never changes it.
- Optionally type a persona name from your plan into Persona (optional), for example the name on one of your Buyer persona cards. Leave it empty to use all personas.
- Click Create draft, then review the targeting.
Distro drafts job titles from your personas and budget holders, locations from your geography, keywords from your personas' search terms, and problems from your pain points. Each value is labelled with where it came from, such as From your GTM or Found in your GTM, so you can tell what to double-check.
If the product has no plan yet, Distro tells you: This product has no GTM report yet: you'll fill in the targeting yourself.
The Autopilot link on the Intelligence page only appears when Autopilot is available on your account. See LinkedIn Autopilot.
LinkedIn campaigns
In a LinkedIn campaign, Write with AI starts with What are you promoting?. Choose a Distro product and Distro pre-fills its description, audience, a key problem, an outcome and your differentiator from your profile and plan. Facts typed in your product profile are used as they are. Facts taken from the plan are marked as derived, so review and confirm them before writing. Proof, results, pricing and customer names never come from the plan: you add those as claims yourself.
LinkedIn lead scoring also has a GTM / ICP alignment component, which only counts when the product has a GTM plan. See Create a LinkedIn campaign.
Copilot
The Copilot uses the plan to understand who you sell to and what you offer: your ICP, positioning, personas, pain points, messaging pillars and channel strategy. When Distro builds your plan, it also prepares the Copilot's keyword set, which the Copilot matches against posts to decide what's relevant.
If that keyword set didn't finish, your dashboard shows Your keyword set didn't finish generating with a Retry now button. Click it, because without keywords the Copilot can't score relevance. Open the Copilot from the sidebar or with Open Copilot at the bottom of the Intelligence page.
SEO & Content
The content engine plans article topics from your plan and your Search Console data. Without a completed plan, SEO & Content shows No GTM report yet with a Generate report button that takes you to the Intelligence page. When your plan is generated, Distro also prepares starting SEO keywords and a content calendar for that product. See How Distro SEO content works.
What you still do by hand
| Task | Why |
|---|---|
| Add proof, results, pricing and a call to action | The plan doesn't contain verified facts about your customers or prices |
| Fill in How it works for cold email | Required, and not in the plan |
| Copy messaging into Email + LinkedIn campaigns and manual templates | These don't read the plan |
| Update facts after your product changes | Refreshing the plan isn't available yet, so edit the facts in each campaign |
| Build prospect lists for cold email | The ICP describes who to target; you import or add the contacts |
Start with the section of your plan you'll use most. For most B2B teams that's the ICP and personas (who to contact) and positioning and pains (what to say). See Understanding your plan.
