Generate a sequence with Distro and edit it
Use Write with AI in the campaign composer to draft a first email and follow-ups from your product's GTM plan, then review, edit and add them to your campaign.
Write with AI drafts a whole campaign sequence (a first email and up to four follow-ups) in one go, using facts about what you're promoting and the fields your recipients actually have. Nothing changes in your campaign until you review the draft and choose to use it.
Before you start
Select recipients first. Distro writes for the audience you chose and only uses personalization fields those people have. If you click Write with AI without recipients, Distro asks you to select them.
1. Choose what you're promoting
In What are you promoting?, pick one:
- One of my Distro products: Distro pulls facts from that product and its GTM plan. Choosing a product here doesn't change your active product anywhere else in Distro.
- Describe another offer: fill in the offer yourself.
2. Check what Distro will use
What the AI will use shows every fact the draft is allowed to rely on. From a product's GTM plan, Distro fills in things like the offer name, what it does, who it's for, positioning, problems it solves, value proposition, differentiators, likely objections and tone.
Some fields stay empty because Distro doesn't store them: proof and case studies, verified results, ROI, approved pricing and How it works. Fill in what you can. If proof, results or ROI are empty, the emails won't claim any.
These fields are required before you can continue: Offer name, What it does, Who it's for, How it works and Problems it solves.
You can also add a Booking link (optional) (a full https:// link) and tick AI may use this booking link.
3. Set the sequence options
| Option | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Campaign goal | Book a meeting, Start a conversation, Find the right person, Get them to try it, or Share a resource |
| Follow-up emails | None, or 1 to 4 (2 by default). Each follow-up brings a new angle, never a "just checking in" |
| Call to action | One clear, low-friction ask |
| Anything else? (optional) | Tone, what to emphasize, what to avoid |
| Use my approved booking link | Only available when you added and allowed a booking link |
Click Write sequence. It takes a few seconds.
4. Review and edit
In Review your sequence you can:
- Choose between subject line options and edit the subject.
- Edit any email's text directly.
- Regenerate a single email, or Regenerate all.
- Untick emails you don't want to use.
- Check Personalization: each field the draft uses, and a Fallback word to use when a recipient doesn't have that field.
- Look at Preview for real recipients to read the emails as specific people will get them.
Your signature and the unsubscribe line (if you turned on Unsubscribe link) are added by Distro from the campaign settings; the draft never writes them.
5. Add it to your campaign
- Use N emails puts the selected emails into your campaign. If those emails already have copy, Distro asks before replacing it, and offers Add as a new version instead.
- Save as version keeps the draft without changing your campaign.
When you use the draft, follow-ups are added with the trigger If no reply, in the same thread, with the wait Distro suggested (in business days). You can change any of it afterwards, like any other email: see Understanding campaign sequences and follow-ups.
AI credits
Writing and regenerating use AI credits. The drawer shows how many you have left this month. If Distro can't write a draft, you're told nothing was charged. If you run out, you can still write and edit emails yourself.
Tips for better drafts
- Fill in How it works and at least one real proof point. Specific facts produce specific emails.
- Keep Who it's for narrow. A draft for "everyone" reads like it.
- Treat the draft as a first version. Read every email as the recipient would, and send yourself a test before launching.
