LinkedIn daily limits, pace and safety pauses

How Distro paces LinkedIn outreach: the daily and weekly limits you set, campaign pace presets, work sessions, warm-up for new accounts and the 24-hour safety pause.

Updated 5 min read

Distro works on LinkedIn the way a careful person would: only inside your working hours, in a few short sessions a day, a few minutes between people, under daily and weekly limits. If LinkedIn shows a warning sign, Distro stops itself for at least 24 hours and waits for you.

Your daily and weekly limits

Your limits apply to your whole LinkedIn account, across all your LinkedIn campaigns and Email + LinkedIn campaigns. You decide them. You first choose the daily limits in the extension's Set up once screen. Change them any time:

  • on the LinkedIn account page (Sending accounts โ†’ LinkedIn โ†’ Manage), with Change limits in Safe pace and limits, or
  • with Daily limits in a LinkedIn campaign's sidebar.

Both open the same LinkedIn limits window.

LimitDefaultRecommendedRange
Connection requests a day10 (the extension's setup suggests 5)Up to 201 to 50
Connection requests a week (any rolling 7 days)80Up to 10010 to 200
Messages a day20Up to 301 to 100

If you go above a recommended level, Distro explains the risk (LinkedIn is more likely to show a warning, a security check or a temporary restriction, and may limit your invitations for weeks) and asks you to tick I understand the risk to my LinkedIn account and want these limits before saving. Raise limits a little at a time.

Lowering a limit takes effect immediately. When a daily limit is reached, the remaining actions wait for the next day's working hours; nothing fails. When the weekly limit is reached, new requests wait until older ones fall out of the 7-day window.

Fixed ceilings

On top of your limits, Distro applies ceilings you can see in Safe pace and limits on the LinkedIn account page:

  • LinkedIn pages: the extension opens LinkedIn only when there is work to do, up to a daily page budget. The panel shows today's number. It is 100 pages by default and grows with higher limits.
  • Profile views and follows: at most 50 profile views and 10 follows a day, when those actions are used.

Working hours and work sessions

Campaigns only run on your working days and hours, while Chrome is open. Set them on the LinkedIn account page under Working hours (time zone, working days, start and end time), or give one campaign its own hours with Custom for this campaign.

Inside those hours, the extension works in 2 or 3 short sessions a day of 20 to 40 minutes each, at varying times. Between sessions nothing opens LinkedIn. The Safe pace and limits section and the extension's side panel show today's sessions, for example "Today: 10:12 to 10:41, 14:05 to 14:30", and whether it's working now or when the next session starts.

Campaign pace

Each campaign has a Pace setting: how long Distro waits before moving to the next person, and when it takes a break. Your daily limits still cap the total.

PaceBetween peopleBreaks
Fast40 to 90 secondsNone
Balanced (recommended, default)1 to 2.5 minutes10 to 20 minutes after every 8 people
Careful2 to 4 minutes20 to 40 minutes after every 5 people
CustomYou choose 30 to 600 secondsEvery 0 to 20 people, 5 to 60 minutes

To change it, open the campaign, click Pace in the sidebar, pick an option and click Save pace.

Warm-up for new or quiet accounts

A newly connected account, or one with no automated activity for 21 days, starts with a warm-up. Distro scales every limit down and steps up each week:

PeriodShare of your limits
Days 1 to 14About a third
Days 15 to 21About half
Days 22 to 28About three quarters
From day 29Full limits

The Safe pace and limits section shows a line such as "Warming up: this account runs at about a third of its limits for its first 2 weeksโ€ฆ" with the date full limits begin. Reconnecting the same LinkedIn account doesn't restart the warm-up.

The 24-hour safety pause

Distro pauses all LinkedIn work for your account if LinkedIn:

  • shows a security check,
  • shows a restriction notice, or may have restricted the account,
  • says a limit was reached, or
  • if LinkedIn pages fail to load several times in a row.

You'll see Paused for safety on the LinkedIn account page and in the extension, with the reason. Running campaigns show as Blocked. Nothing runs on LinkedIn for at least 24 hours, and it never restarts by itself.

To resume:

  1. Open LinkedIn yourself. Complete any security check and read any notice LinkedIn shows.
  2. After the 24 hours, open Sending accounts and click Manage on the LinkedIn card. In Safe pace and limits, tick I checked my LinkedIn account and it looks fine and click Resume.
  3. Paused campaigns carry on from where they stopped.

If LinkedIn showed a restriction, consider lowering your daily limits or pausing outreach for longer before resuming.

Keeping outreach natural

Limits protect your account, but how you write and who you contact matter just as much:

  • Start low. Let the warm-up run, and keep connection requests well under the recommended levels on a new or rarely used account.
  • Target carefully. Invite people with a real reason to connect. Many ignored or declined invitations look worse than a smaller number of relevant ones.
  • Write like a person. Short, specific notes and messages, no copy-pasted pitch in the invitation. Use fallbacks so nobody gets "Hi ,".
  • Keep the pace human. Balanced or Careful suit most accounts. Fast is quicker than most people work.
  • Don't double up. Avoid running other LinkedIn automation on the same account at the same time.
  • Stay in charge. Read replies and answer them yourself; every reply stops the sequence for that person.
  • Use one Chrome. Running two copies of the extension can act twice.
